A CHARMING WEEKEND IN MONTREAL QUEBEC

This last weekend we spent a short but OH so sweet weekend in Montreal. Living in Boston we have so many beautiful places around us in driving range - I think its important to take advantage of that. So often we get caught up from the grind, a little change in perspective can go a long way. This is a perfect time of year to go, the foliage on the drive up through Vermont made for a magical drive. Montreal was a bit more aged into the season with fuller colors. The air was crisp and fresh, perfect roaming around the city and coffee shop hopping. We’ve been to Montreal a few times in the past, our absolute favorite feature of the city is the food. We have yet to be disappointed. The menus are innovating and creative, a complete experience wherever you go. I will say that it isn’t the most veg/vegan friendly city, but you can still make due. Here are a few snippets from our trip that made us fall in love with the city all over again.

This was a DIVINE brunch spot. Design, atmosphere, food - all of the above. The fruit bowl was so fresh. Swooning over a fruit bowl - I know - but it was unbelievable, something you would get off an island ya know? The hubby got fried chicken waffles, I can’t speak for but he said they were delish. Desert we had blueberry pancakes. Now I typically not a pancake connoisseur, however…. these were out of this world. Stuffed with ricotta cheese every bite was thrilling. The scene was thriving, you could tell it was a typical hot-spot for the locals. S/o to our [local] friend from Montreal for bringing us to this little gem, now we will dream of Foiegwa brunches until next time.

ps. the bar design was on-point. Check out the faux black marble paired with the tufted leather barstools.

Checked in at:

HOTEL MONVILLE

1041 Rue de Bleury, Montréal, QC

Sitting in the heart of downtown this was walkabout to some of the main attractions of the city including: Palais des Congrès (Convention Center), Underground City (mall), World Trade Center. Check in/out was seamless. There was personal do-it-yourself computers, or 24 concierge option if you prefer human service. This took us under 2 minutes, i’m ALL about efficiency so I was thrilled by this. It’s all int he details:) OK let’s talk design! It featured oak paneling throughout the hotel, complimented with black matte fixtures, furnitures and some painted walls. The bar area was accented with dark brown leather barstools trimmed in brass - a COMPLETELY instagramable space. The rooms were lined with a sheer curtain for privacy, yet light enough not taking away from the gorgeous view of each room. Also in the room, the utility space was all black, wall/tile/ceiling - it was moody, masculine, yet so chic and modern. Throughout the entire hotel it held a very Scandinavian-esque vibe, that was obviously beautiful and inspiring. Would I stay here again? DUH!
