BEFORE YOU GO
The amount of options to stay is very overwhelming. Truthfully the island is so tiny it doesn’t much matter. If you don’t plan on renting an ATV, staying the town of Mykonos would be the most convenient route.
Mykonos is known as “Island of the Winds”. The locals refer to this as the islands “natural air-conditioner” to tame the heat in the summer months. If you are visiting Mykonos Island for the first time this is a very noticeable character of the island.
Popular times to travel is between June and September when the weather is the warmest. This is when you will find the famous DJ’s and perfect water temperature for swimming.
Plan your days around the sunsets & make reservations. This is the busiest time of the day; it is best to have your day scheduled around this beautiful daily ritual.
You can arrive to the island via ferry or plane. When planing your trip make sure to ask if your hotel offers shuttle services from the airport/ferry terminal to the hotel. This is a popular accommodation offered by most, but not by all resorts. Although the island is small it is best to maneuverer the island with an ATV. The roads are very thin and safety must be taken seriously. You also don’t have to pay for parking on the island - that’s a bonus!
